This is another early project. To create the black around the image, all I did was increase the canvas size and made it black. Then for the pumpkins, I made it black and white, then utilized the selection tool and selected the pumpkin and painted to make it it's original orange color. This project looks pretty good for just starting in photoshop. Now, I may add some text and really do something with the photo.
The promotional poster project was pretty fun! I enjoyed using sketchbook after I figured out how to work it. Using the layers in sketchbook was pretty cool. My pumpkin looks nice. On my poster I also used 3 brushes. The spider, the web, and the ghost were all brushes. I decided to go with a gray background so everything else would pop out. Underneath the text, I put a gray rectangle with the opacity dropped down. The only thing I'd go back and change about my poster is to make the bottom text (not in the rectangle) white so it stands out more. Other than that, I love my poster. :)
One of my favorite things to do with pictures is have one thing be in it's original color and the rest be in black and white. I did this project a while ago, and I think it looks alright, but I'd definitely add text effects now that I know how. I'd also add a fading rectangle with low opacity behind the text "Summer 2014" to give it something else. Also, Mr. Goward's son had a cut above his eye and I utilized the spot healing brush tool, which is one of my favorite tools. All in all, I really do love is the blue jacket and the blue in the text working well together. If I were to redo this, I would make a few minor, but crucial changes.
I absolutely love my motivational poster. It's simple, but effective. The background photo of the girl is actually a picture I took of my youngest sister, Lana. Before starting this, I thought a lot about this project and decided to aim the purpose of this towards feminism because it's something I feel strongly about. In Photoshop, I inserted the picture, then decided to make it black and white in the adjustments panel. I then used the quick selection tool to select her eye, and painted it to make it the original color. To create the pink rectangle under the text, I used the rectangle tool, then dropped the opacity to 31%. I went with pink for both the rectangle and text to capture the girly theme. For my text I used an emboss, stroke, and drop shadow. All in all, I loved this project, and I loved the outcome. I learned a lot about text styles as well.
To create this banner I used Adobe photoshop. To personalize my banner I decided to use the school colors because I'm proud to be a Shark. I liked the idea of it being a gradient too, so it faded into red. I used a softball brush to also make it more "Alyssa" because softball is my favorite sport. Pretty much my life. My name has a drop shadow, and an outer glow. Overall, I love my banner. It incorporates my personality, and digital media.
In this online advertisement I was advertising the Movie Mockingjay that comes out November 21st. I used Adobe Photoshop and utilized the brushes from deviantart.com. The Mockingjay pin was a brush that i changed to a gold color. The flames are also a brush. I changed some flames to be the same color as the pin, to do that i used the eyedropper tool. Then, I changed some flames to be an orange color to make it more realistic. I went with a black background because I really wanted the focus to be on the pin and words on it. I really wanted to use a powerful quote from the movie, so I decided to go with the one that captures the movie the best. I used an emboss and stroke on the words. Underneath where it says "Hunger Games: Mockingjay" I utilized the eyedropper tool once again, and took it from the lighter area in the quote above so it stands out on the background. The date of the movie I really wanted to be on a rectangle shape with the opacity brought down to 70%. For the words, I used an emboss, a satin, and a stroke. Overall, I'm pleased with how it turned out.
